Ex-Netflix VP Found Guilty of Accepting Bribes Worth Over $500,000

Netflix VP Convicted

A federal jury on Friday found former Netflix vice president Michael Kail guilty on 28 out of 29 counts, including wire fraud, money laundering, and mail fraud. Kail, who oversaw Netflix’s IT department, was accused of accepting bribes, kickbacks, and stock options exceeding $500,000 from multiple tech companies to secure contracts for them with Netflix. The charges date back to fraudulent activities from February 2012 to July 2014. Netflix prohibits conflicts of interest among its employees and requires disclosure of gifts. Kail, who left Netflix in 2014 and joined Yahoo, could face a maximum of 20 years in prison and significant fines. He will be sentenced in three months. Netflix has not commented on the verdict.
