Disney Removes Marvel Star Jonathan Majors After Assault Verdict

Disney removes Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in Marvel after his conviction for reckless assault and harassment. The decision follows a two-week trial resulting from Majors’ March arrest after an altercation with his ex-partner, Grace Jabbari.

Marvel, initially positioning Majors as the next supervillain, now reevaluates its direction. It’s uncertain if Disney will recast Kang or make significant storyline changes. Majors, in Loki, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, was set for The Kang Dynasty, now referred to as Avengers 5.

Released by Entertainment 360 and The Lede Company post-arrest, Disney waited until trial’s end to sever ties. No comments from Disney yet.

While guilty of reckless assault and harassment, Majors was acquitted of intentional assault and aggravated harassment, per THR.

Majors’ sentencing is set for February 6, 2024.
