Donald Trump Slams Oscars for Low Ratings and Political Correctness

Former President Donald Trump criticized the 93rd Academy Awards for its low viewership and record-breaking low ratings. Trump suggested reverting to the name “The Academy Awards” from “Oscars” and recommended hiring a crowd-engaging host while being less politically correct. He expressed dissatisfaction with the television industry, accusing it of promoting the Democratic Party and canceling conservatives. Trump’s comments came as this year’s Oscars drew the lowest-ever audience of 10.3 million, according to Nielsen. He also mocked the awarding of Best Picture to the South Korean film “Parasite” and requested bringing back “Gone With the Wind.” The Oscars faced criticism from various quarters for its declining viewership and political statements during the ceremony.
